Hi Parents! Thank you so much for those of you who came out tonight. It was nice to meet you and put faces with names. I appreciate your support and know that together we can help your child achieve amazing things.
For those of you who could not make it tonight, please take the time to go through the information that will be sent home tomorrow with your child. I had many handouts that have valuable information about how you can help at home, data on the great difference those 20 of reading plays in your child's exposure to words and vocabulary. I passed out the walk-a-thon collection envelopes. We talked about scholastic book orders, classroom schedules, behavior policies, homework and testing. I also gave each family a set of multipication fact cards to study at home. Speedy fluency of basic multipication facts is essential to success in third grade math and beyond. It continues to build and will continue to get harder as the year goes. Start now!
As some of you noticed tonight, this nice wave of summer heat makes our classroom extremely hot. We are doing all we can to keep cool, but be sure to have your child dress in shorts and short sleeves. Also, we want them to have a water bottle at their desk to keep hydrated.
Students should still be working on those super student posters and turning them in on Friday. We also have book orders due on Friday. There were so many amazing books, including the $1 book. Stock up, get books they are interested in, get reading!
As always, please let me know if you have any questions!
