Hi everybody! I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving break! It went by so fast for me.....busy every day! Before break, students shared their Thanksgiving projects and I have to say that it was such a fun experience for everyone. I love listening to the kids tell me about their traditions and menus.

We now have 4 weeks until the Christmas break and we have a lot to do until then. Here's a look at what we did today....

First we started looking at subject pronouns. We replaced names and nouns with he, she, it, they, we, and it. Students continued to work on these during Daily 5. We also began Module 3 in math. This module goes back to multiplication and division, and focuses on the facts of 6, 7, 8, and 9. Students should practice these facts at home, especially the facts that give them the most trouble. After today's lesson we also filled out a chart that shows all the different strategies we have learned to multiply numbers. Make sure you ask your child about it. I think it really helps give a claer picture of the ways students can multiply IF they haven't memorized their facts. Of course, we also talkeda bout how if you just know your basic facts, it makes life much easier!

We will move back to Social studies this next 4 weeks with a focus on our neighbor to the North, Canada. Students will also have a project that they will complete partly in class and partly at home (more details for that will come home later this week.)
