Well, hopefully today was the last day of our hot streak! Tomorrow the high is 61 and Friday it will be 63! Much more comfortable! We are working hard on learning our multiplication facts. Students are beginning to get the hang of writing tape diagrams to help model word problems. We specify that each word problem has 3 parts: The tape diagram with labels, the multiplcation or divison sentence, and the answer written out in a complete sentence. Students are beginning to get that process automated. Today we focused on the 4s time table. We worked on skip counting by 4s...both forward and backward. I gave students a copy of hte table to the left to help them if they were getting stuck.

In ELA we continue working on writing complete sentences. Today we did an activity with run-ons, fragments and compound sentences. We continue to rotate in centers while I meet with reading groups. At the end of the day we completed our beginning of the year benchmark assessment. Starting soon we will being really working on those short response and extended response questions. Writing complete sentences becomes EXTREMELY important here.

Please let me know if you have any questions.......happy Wednesday!
