Hello parents!

Today was a bit of a different day as we had to change our schedule a bit to accomodate a different specials time (just for the day). The students all handled it really well and were actually excited by the change! We were able to get through all of our reading groups and students worked on fixing run-on sentences and completing comprehension questions for Destiny's Gift (our story of the week). We had a great time outside in the much cooler temperatures.

Then after lunch we read another chapter of our read aloud book. The students are really getting into the story and don't like it when I stop at the cliff-hanger chapter endings! In the afternoon we completed our math lesson. We worked on lesson 15, which focused on writing out tape diagrams to match the words in a word problem. I directed students that they must get into the habit of always writing a tape diagram, a math sentence, and then the answer to the question in sentence form.

During centers, students reinforced this skill with a game of word problem scoot. Another center focused on reviewing skills from 2nd grade. Some students really struggled with the regrouping during subtractiong....I think I found another skill to reinforce during center time!

In Social Studies we looked at the Mexican government system and how it compared with the United Sates.

In other news......don't forget that school pictures are on Monday. Order online or bring the envelope with you!
