Why do the short weeks always seem the longest?! We have taken advantage of the short week by doing some extra work in class. Instead of reading a new story in our Journeys book, we read books about bats and owls. We continued with our compare and contrast skill from last week. In reading groups we are filling out a comparison matrix based on the traits we are reading about. We will then take a look at what is the same about these two creatures. Students are enjoying learning more about these animals.
We continue to work on the RACE strategy. I have already seen improvement from students as they focus on restating the question as the start of their response. It's important to keep reinforcing the use of complete sentences when writing.....anything! We don't stop using conventions just because it's Science, or Math.
We began Module 2 in math. This module focuses on measurement and elapsed time. You can find the full module, module overview and homework sheets by clicking here.
As always, let me know if you have any questions!
